In Celebration of World Soil Day with Satish Kumar

World Soils Day 2018 will be the day international speaker Satish Kumar comes to Tiverton to tell of the importance for healthy soil for all living things on earth.

The theme for his talk in the lecture theatre at Petroc Collage, Tiverton is ‘Soil, Soul and Society’ and will look at the importance of soil for the wellbeing of our world society. This is the final event in the ‘Celebration of Soil’ coordinated by the Tiverton Area Community Transition [TACT] Soils Group.

The talk will be on Wednesday December 5 at 6.30pm for a 7.00 pm start.

The Soils Group have held events throughout 2018 including the display in Tiverton Museum running until December 5.

Soils Group member, Chris Allen said: “To have Satish Kumar coming to Tiverton is a key event not only for our group programme but also for the town. It is not every day that a speaker of such international standing arrives for a public event to deliver the important message of the importance of healthy soil to every living thing on earth.”

“This event has been organised to coincide with World Soils Day 2018 and will be another opportunity to remind people of the importance of soil to supply our food and many raw materials plus maintaining a healthy environment for millions of plant and animal species”
