Farm Soil Carbon

The Farm Soil Carbon Advisory Board brings together leading experts in soil science, ecology, agronomy and statistics as well as cutting edge businesses to discuss the feasibility and impact of a soil carbon market for the UK agriculture sector.

In December 2022, the Board published its recommendations for 'Minimum Requirements' that all farm soil carbon programmes and projects should look to reach (Environment Agency NEIRF project).

The objective of the Advisory Board is to identify and address the different policy, practice and research steps needed to bring clarity, consistency and integrity to the market in farm soil carbon and meet the needs of farmers, investors and other stakeholders.
